ounded in 2003, Juhoud for Community and Rural Development is committed to the welfare of rural, low-income, and impoverished communities with a specific focus on youth and women. “Juhoud” in Arabic means “efforts”; it was chosen to reflect the organization’s mission of making every effort to change the Palestinian reality of poverty. Juhoud has three main program areas: 1) Economic and business Development, 2) community Development, 3) Adult Education, Recent Juhoud projects have focused on the following:
Emergency job creation
Training
Self-employment and livelihood support through small scale enterprises (predominantly farming, food processing and handicrafts) for youth and women
Land reclamation and construction support to small farms
Preservation of edible and medicinal wild plants
Civic engagement and voter education
Promoting adult education
Legal support to farmers to gain access to land
