About Us

UNDP's Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP) was established via a UN General Assembly Resolution (33/147) on 20 December 1978. It called upon the United Nations Development Programme, in consultation with specialized agencies and other organizations within the United Nations to intensify its efforts: ‘To improve the economic and social conditions of the Palestinian people by identifying their social and economic needs and by establishing concrete projects to that end’.

In line with its mandate, UNDP/PAPP continues to play an important role in supporting socio-economic development in the occupied Palestinian territory. Since the establishment of the Palestinian Authority in 1994, UNDP/PAPP, in partnership with public, private institutions, civil society and donors- has invested over one billion Dollars in support of the Palestinian people.

UNDP partners with people at all levels of society to help build nations that can withstand crisis, and drive and sustain the kind of growth that improves the quality of life for everyone. On the ground in 177 countries and territories, we offer global perspective and local insight to help empower lives and build resilient nations.
