يسر مركز خليل السكاكيني الثقافي أن يدعوكم لحضور إطلاق كتاب “أنتظر شوقا في عيون الحرامية” للفنانة جمانة إميل عبود، وذلك يوم الأربعاء 16.1.2019 الساعة 5:00 مساءً.

تثير أعمال جمانة إميل عبود الفنية أسئلة حول الذاكرة والجسد والفلكلور والطقوس، وتحاكي كتابة التاريخ وتأثيرات اللغة وتجزئة الذكريات. يتضمن عمل الفنانة مشاريع بصرية وشاعرية ونصية تمتد إلى 20 عامًا. يعرض الكتاب اثنين من مشاريع الفنانة “مسكونة” (٢٠١٠ - ٢٠١٧) و”أنا لا أشعر بأي شيء” (٢٠١٢ - ٢٠١٥) ليتضمن رسومات ، قصائد ، حكايا شعبية ، تعويذات وصور. يحتوي الكتاب أيضا على مذكرات الفنانة وهي تتنقل مع عيسى فريج في أرض متأثرة بالقمع بحثًا عن عيون المياه. كما ويعرض الكتاب مساهمتان عن أعمال جمانة من قبل مؤرخة الفن تينا شرول و الأديبة والمؤرخة مارينا وارنر

جمانة إميل عبود فنانة فلسطينية تستخدم في أعمالها مزيجاً من الرسم والفيديو والأداء والنصوص لوصف مواضيع تمس بالذاكرة والفقدان والانتماء. شاركت في العديد من المعارض المحلية والدولية من ضمنها معارض فردية في كونستروم، لندن، ومركز خليل السكاكيني الثقافي (2016)، رام الله، ودارة الفنون - مؤسسة خالد شومان، عمان (2017)، بالإضافة إلى بينالي فينيسيا 53 و 56 (2009 + 2015)، قلنديا الدولي، فلسطين (2012 و 2016)، بينالي الشارقة 13: تماوج في رام الله أراض منقلبة (2017)، دول المتعاقدة من الباطن، مؤسسة عبد المحسن القطان. معرض BMW Tate Live، و Tate Modern، ومعرض في المتحف الفلسطيني، بيرزيت (2018).

لارا خالدي هي قيّمة وناقدة فنية ومعلمة تعمل في مدينة القدس، فلسطين. وهي حالياً رئيسة قسم الدراسات الإعلامية في كلية القدس بارد، القدس. قامت بتنظيم معارض في فلسطين وعالمياً، كان أحدثها مشروع أراض منقلبة، بينالي الشارقة 13 خارج الموقع، مشروع رام الله (2017).

Posing questions about memory, the body, folklore and rituals, Jumana Emil Abboud’s artistic practice confronts the telling and retelling of history and the impacts of language and the fragmentation of memories. The Jerusalem-based artist’s oeuvre includes visual, poetic and text-based projects spanning 20 years. Showcasing two predominant projects by the artist; Maskouneh (Inhabited), 2010​-20​17 and I Feel Nothing, 2012-2015, In Aching Agony And Longing I Wait For You By The Spring Of Thieves includes drawings, poems, folktales, talismans and images. Featured in the book is the artist’s journal as she and project collaborator Issa Freij journey in a land impacted by oppression in search of water springs. Two long interpretative contributions by art historian Tina Sherwell and Novelist and Historian Marina Warner reflect on the artist’s practice.

Edited by Lara Khaldi and published by Black Dog Press, this publication is supported by Bildmuseum, Umeå University, Sweden; Darat al Funun – the Khalid Shoman Foundation, Amman; and the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC), Garage Aarau, Daniel Sachs Foundation, Barjeel Foundation and many other individual friends.

The event includes a short introduction, a game and celebratory food and drink. A small number of books will be available for sale, as well as prints from selected works by Jumana emil Abboud.

Biographies

Jumana Emil Abboud engages drawing, video, performance, objects, and text to navigate themes of memory, loss, and resilience. Abboud has participated in numerous local and international exhibitions including solo exhibitions at Kunstraum, London; BALTIC, Gateshead; Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center (2016); Bildmuseet, Umeå, Sweden ; and Darat Al Funun – Khalid Shoman Foundation, Amman, Jordan (2017); in addition to the 53rd and 56th Biennale di Venezia (2009 + 2015); Qalandiya International, Palestine (2012 & 2016); Sharjah Biennial 13: Tamawuj in Ramallah Shifting Ground (2017); Subcontracted Nations, A.M.Qattan Foundation; BMW Tate Live Exhibition, Tate Modern, and at the The Palestinian Museum, Birzeit (2018).

Lara Khaldi is a curator, critic and pedagogue working in Jerusalem, Palestine. She is currently the head of the Media Studies department at Alquds Bard College, Jerusalem. Khaldi has curated exhibitions in Palestine and internationally, including most recently Shifting Ground, Sharjah Biennial 13 off site Ramallah project (2017).
