Supervisor for the Remedial Education Program

Purpose of the job:

The Remedial Education Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the Remedial Education Program, providing staff development, and promoting educational plans for children with learning difficulties who are served at the Spafford Children’s Center.  The Supervisor will work closely with teachers, parents, and administrators to provide services according to best practice standards in remedial education.
Main Tasks and Duties:

-Implement procedures to identify the children’s needs for remedial education and provide individualized educational programs.

-Evaluate and assist the SCC Education Program staff to implement best practices and successful remedial teaching methods.
-Interact with speech and occupational therapists; counselors, social workers, and psychologists; and other professionals at SCC to develop integrated, therapeutic educational plans for the children served at SCC.

-Provide professional development for the SCC remedial education staff.
-Coordinate the activities of teachers and support staff for the Remedial Education Program. -Monitor lesson plans and oversee classroom activities for compliance with planned courses and standard procedures.
Supervise day to day operations of the Remedial Education Program that includes staff coverage, scheduling, and daily attendance.
Perform other administrative duties include handling parent and community relations, compiling records, overseeing curricula, providing information for reports to funders.
