PNGO is seeking qualified candidates for the position of :
Project Coordinator
Background on PNGO:
PNGO is a coordination body for the NGO sector in Palestine with the purpose of strengthening the Palestinian civil society and contributing to the establishment of the Palestinian state based on the principles of democracy, social justice, rule of law, tolerance, and respect of human rights through networking, building-up the capacity of NGOs, developing information management centre and mainstreaming of society concerns into public policies, plans and programs. PNGO boasts of 145 national NGOs in the West Bank and Gaza Strip that work across sectors in different developmental fields. The job station is Ramallah with needed travel to East Jerusalem and Gaza.
Job Purpose:
To coordinate legal research project, and advocate for the implementation of international human rights and humanitarian law including freedom of expression, association and assembly in the OPT.
Major Duties:
-To use the research and findings available to assist in establishing an advocacy strategy for the legal research project.
-To initiate and draft PNGO statements, factsheets, and position papers on issues relevant to international human rights and humanitarian law including freedom of expression, association and assembly in the OPT.
-Report to advisory board, project manager, and the director of PNGO on all meetings.
-To assist the advisory board in ongoing advocacy activities aimed at the international actors regarding wider political issues for Palestine.
-Use available social media tools in to circulating PNGO's positions and activities as well as updating PNGO's Facebook and website
-Organizing meetings and advocacy tours and activities with local and international partners and media.
-Elaboration of press releases and permanent coverage of legal cases, using main social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.), and contacting the news agencies.
-Elaboration of an advocacy strategy linking international human rights and humanitarian law to freedom of expression, association and assembly in the OPT.
-Develop and maintain contacts with partners.
-Produce effective reports and policy papers based on advisory board vision and recommendations.
-Arranging and/or implementing media interviews.
-Represent PNGO at meetings and conferences locally and abroad when needed.
-Brief delegations on the international human rights and humanitarian law including shrinking civic space, violations of freedom of expression, association and assembly situation in the OPT.
-Participate in meetings and annual planning processes.
