Synopsis
2018 marks the centenary of Nelson Mandela’s birth. He seized centre stage during a historic trial in 1963 and 1964. But there were eight others who, like him, faced the death sentence. They too were subjected to pitiless cross-examinations. To a man they stood firm and turned the tables on the state: South Africa’s apartheid regime was in the dock. Recently recovered archival recordings of those hearings transport us back into the thick of the courtroom battles.

Biography
Nicolas Champeaux
Champeaux was born into a Franco-American household in 1975. In his career as a journalist, he was Radio France Internationale’s special correspondent based in Johannesburg between 2007
and 2010. He was then appointed reporter-at-large for the radio station’s Africa service. Champeaux has written and produced several radio documentaries including Mandela et son image (2013), Mandela: l’histoire secrète d’une libération (2010) and Nelson Mandela 1990-1994: les années de transition (2013). He was also behind several radio programmes on Robert Mugabe. He also produced the web documentary Sur les traces de Boko Haram which was shortlisted in the multimedia category of the 2015 Prix Bayeux des correspondants de guerre. This accolade came two years after his documentary Tombouctou: 10 mois sous Aqmi was shortlisted in the radio category for the Prix Bayeux.

Gilles Porte
Gilles Porte is a director of photography and a film director. He has worked as a director of photography on around 30 films directed by Jacques Audiard, Raoul Ruiz, Xavier Durringer, Safy
Nebbou, Frédéric Beigbeder, Xavier Gens and Marc Dugain. In 2004, with Yolande Moreau, he co-directed Quand la mer monte which won the César for best first film and the Prix Louis Delluc.
In 2010, he directed the documentary Dessine toi and around 100 short films entitled Portraits / Autoportraits which mixed live action images and animation. In 2015, Porte directed Tantale, an interactive film with Jean-Luc Bideau and François Marthouret. He is also the author of two books on photography, Rendons à César and Portraits / Autoportraits. He has been president of the Association française des directeurs de la photographie since April 2018.

يصادف العام ٢٠١٨ مرور مئة عام على مولد نيلسون مانديلا. تصدّر مانديلا محاكمةً تاريخيّة عام ١٩٦٣ و١٩٦٤، ولكن واجه ثمانية آخرون الحكم بالإعدام مثله، وقد خضعوا هم كذلك لاستجوابات قاسية. لكنّهم صمدوا بغير استثناء وطوّقوا الدّولة: فحوكم نظام أبارتهايد جنوب أفريقيا. تنقلنا التّسجيلات المستردّة مؤخّرًا إلى أوج معارك قاعات المحكمة.

نيكولا شامپو
وُلد شامپو لعائلة فرنسيّة أمريكيّة عام ١٩٧٥. خلال عمله كصحفيّ شغل منصب المراسل الخاصّ لراديو "فرانس إنترناسيونال" الموجود في يوهانسبرغ بين عامي ٢٠٠٧ و٢٠١٠. عُيّن بعدها مراسلًا عامًّا لخدمة محطّة راديو "أفريقيا". كتب وأنتج شامپو العديد من البرامج الوثائقيّة الإذاعيّة بما فيها "مانديلا وصورته" (٢٠١٣)، "مانديلا: تاريخ سرّي للتّحرير" (٢٠١٠) و"نيلسون مانديلا ١٩٩٠-١٩٩٤: سنوات الانتقال" (٢٠١٣). وقد كان خلف عدّة من برامج الرّاديو عن "روبرت موغابي". وأنتج كذلك الوثائقي الإنترنتي "حول آثار بوكو حرام" الّذي أدرج في القائمة القصيرة لفئة الملتيميديا لعام ٢٠١٥ لجائزة "بايو" لمراسلي الحرب. وأتى هذا الشّرف سنتين بعد إدراج فيلمه الوثائقي "تومبوكتو: ١٠ شهور في ظلّ القاعدة في بلاد المغرب الإسلامي" في القائمة القصيرة في فئة الرّاديو لجائزة "بايو".

جيل پورت
مصوّر سينمائي ومخرج أفلام. عمل كمدير التّصوير ضمن حوالي ٣٠ فيلمًا أخرجها جاك أوديار وراوول رويز وخاڤيير دورينغر وصفي نبّو وفريدريك بيجبدر وخاڤيير جينز ومارك دوغان. شارك يولاند مورو عام ٢٠٠٤ في إخراج "عندما يعلو البحر" الّذي حاز على جائزة السّيزار لأفضل فيلم أوّل وجائزة لويس ديلوك.
أخرج عام ٢٠١٠ الفيلم الوثائقي "أُرسُم نفسك" وحوالي مئة فيلم قصير تحت العنوان "پورتريه/پورتريه ذاتي"، وهي أفلام دمجت صور الفعل المباشر والتّحريك السّينمائي. عام ٢٠١٥، أخرج پورت الفيلم "تانتال"، وهو فيلم تفاعليّ مع جان لوك بيدو وفرنسوا مارتوريه. ألّف كذلك كتابين عن التّصوير "لنذهب إلى السّيزار" و"پورتريه/پورتريه ذاتي". يترأّس الجمعيّة الفرنسيّة للمصوّرين السّينمائيّين منذ نيسان ٢٠١٨.

Synopsis
2018 marque le centenaire de la naissance de Nelson Mandela. Il a pris le devant de la scène lors d'un procès historique en 1963 et 1964. Mais huit autres personnes, comme lui, ont été condamnées à mort. Eux aussi ont été soumis à un contre-interrogatoire impitoyable. Pour un homme, ils sont restés fermes et ont renversé la situation: le régime d’apartheid sud-africain était au banc des accusés. Les enregistrements d'archives récemment récupérés de ces audiences nous ramènent dans le feu de l'action.

Nicolas Champeaux
Champeaux est né dans une famille franco-américaine en 1975. Au cours de sa carrière de journaliste, il a été envoyé spécial de Radio France Internationale à Johannesburg entre 2007 et 2007.

Champeaux a écrit et produit plusieurs documentaires radiophoniques, dont Mandela et son image (2013), Mandela: L’histoire secrète de libération (2010) et Nelson Mandela 1990-1994: les années de transition (2013). Il était également à l'origine de plusieurs émissions de radio sur Robert Mugabe. Il a également produit le documentaire Web Sur les traces de Boko Haram, qui a été sélectionné dans la catégorie multimédia du Prix Bayeux des correspondants de guerre 2015. Cette récompense a été décernée deux ans après le documentaire Tombouctou: 10 mois sous Aqmi a été sélectionné dans la catégorie radio pour le Prix Bayeux.

Gilles Porte
Gilles Porte est directeur de la photographie et réalisateur. Il a travaillé comme directeur de la photographie sur une trentaine de films réalisés par Jacques Audiard, Raoul Ruiz, Xavier Durringer, Safy.
Nebbou, Frédéric Beigbeder, Xavier Gens et Marc Dugain. En 2004, avec Yolande Moreau, il co-réalise Quand la mer monte qui remporte le César du meilleur premier film et le Prix Louis Delluc.
En 2010, il réalise le documentaire Dessine toi et une centaine de courts métrages intitulés Portraits / Autoportraits mêlant images animées et animations. En 2015, Porte a réalisé Tantale, un film interactif avec Jean-Luc Bideau et François Marthouret. Il est également l'auteur de deux livres sur la photographie, Rendons à César et Portraits / Autoportraits. Il est président de l'Association française des directeurs de la photographie depuis avril 2018.
