Psychedelic Desert Funk from Berlin:

JAMILA & THE OTHER HEROES are the new, wild and lively band based in Berlin that have come together creating raw, energetic and funkadelic music to make you fly.

Leading the band is the vibrant Jamila Al-Yousef. Born in Berlin on the day the wall came down, and raised by her influential Palestinian refugee father, Jamila’s cultural activism and strong will to positively change the world is drawn deep into her artistic expression. In their songwriting JAMILA & THE OTHER HEROES merge Psychedelic Rock, Funk and Arab Folklore, highlighting the musicians’ diverse cultural influences from the Middle East, Latin America and East Europe. Their Debut EP „CHANGE“ was released in 2017.

Combining Jamila’s powerful lead vocals and emancipatory lyrics with The Other Heroes carefully produced guitar work and percussion styled sounds has left audiences in awe and is catching the attention of music lovers all over Europe and the Middle East. The message of the band is simple: Everyone should discover their inner heroes to make the world a greater place.

Currently the band works on their Debut Album „Kullna Gharibeen“ (We are all Weirdos?) to be released on 9.11.2019 at the feminist and anti-racist Berlin label „Springstoff“.
