Speaker Bio: Ali Madani is a PhD Candidate and Graduate Student Researcher in Machine Learning at UC Berkeley focusing on Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing for Healthcare. He focuses on the application of machine learning and mechanistic models to understand and predict cardiovascular disease. Ali has recently founded a healthcare-AI startup advised by ML professors at UC Berkeley. Previously he has worked for a seed-level aerial imaging startup, a series-A-level diagnostics startup, and IBM Research in Watson Health.

Ali was awarded the UC Dissertation Award, AHA National Innovative Research Grant and the Exponent Technical Fellowship. He also won the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award, and mentored multiple students who have gone on to work at leading technology companies such as Google, Facebook, Amazon. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at UC Berkeley before beginning his PhD program.
