The Arab chamber of commerce and Industry/Jerusalem – Beit-Hanina


The Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACoCI) was established in 1936 in Jerusalem for supporting the industry and commercial activities, with a vision of strengthening the Palestinian economy in the City, revitalizing Jerusalemite identity and supporting Palestinian economy at large through expanding the members’ base of traders and industrialists, defending their rights and regulating their work, as well as encouraging investments for creating enabling environment for improving business productivity.


The Community Resilience and Development Programme (CRDP) was designed to strengthen the resilience of Palestinians living in Area C and East Jerusalem to enable them to remain on their land. To this end, the programme envisioned to contribute to the following:


      • Preventing the erosion of living conditions of Palestinians in Area C and East Jerusalem that undermine their development capital;

      • Protecting Palestinian land and property in Area C and East Jerusalem; and

      • Mitigating and ideally reversing migration flow from Area C and East Jerusalem by enhancing human security and livelihood of Palestinians.

The ACoCI will be actively engaged in supporting the implementation of activities, especially in the areas pertaining to


  • Develop the industry sector that could compete, and enhance investment environment that encourages local products through small grants to finance industrial / commercial products

  • Support newly established/ establishing women led business in East Jerusalem

The desired outcome of the current CRDP extension programme is to empower local stakeholders in East Jerusalem, through the most appropriate partners, to act with resilience when facing threats that affect their sustenance on the land.  It contributes to the development of East Jerusalem and strives to ensure that these areas provide improved conditions for the Palestinian population. In addition, it will inject the development capital needed for Palestinian sustainable development.


In this context, the ACoCI is seeking one candidate to fill the positions of “Procurement officer” to facilitate the implementation of project components related well as the business community targeted by the Programme. The Procurement officer shall work under the overall guidance of the Director of the ACoCI, and the direct supervision of the Project Manager.  The expected duration for the position is 8 months on service contract, with possibility for extension upon satisfactory performance as well as availability of funding under the project.


Procurement Officer Duties and Responsibilities


  • Estimating and establishing cost parameters and budgets for purchases

  • Maintain accurate records of purchases and pricing

  • Create and maintain good relationships with vendors/suppliers

  • Making professional decisions in a fast-paced environment

  • Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and other important data

  • Review and analyze all vendors/suppliers, supply, and price options

  • Develops plans for purchasing equipment, services and supplies

Negotiate the best deal for pricing and supply contracts


  • ensure that the products and supplies are high quality

  • Create and maintain inventory of all incoming and current supplies

  • Maintain and update list of suppliers and their qualifications, delivery times, and potential future development

  • Working with team members and Project Manager to complete duties as needed

  • Assisting the project manager in documentations and procedures.
