RED NOSES Palestine (RNPS) is an artistic organization bringing humor and laughter to people in need of joy.
By bringing humor and laughter into Palestinian hospitals, our team of clown-doctors boost the resistance and willpower of their patients. As clown-doctors take their patients’ individual needs and interests into consideration, the result is a special connection between the patient and the artist. The patient’s response is an elevation of mood coupled with enchantment and laughter,
An array of laughter studies show that laughter releases endorphins and therefore has a positive effect on the general well-being, strengthening the immune system and the psyche, easing pain and tightening social bonds.
General Objectives:
The empowerment of patients in hospital with coping strategies to better deal with their personal situation in hospital thereby minimizing their stress levels during hospitalization is our main concern. The concept of therapeutic clowning is very effective as the clowns are specialists for regaining childlike vitality and for assuming a positive attitude in a conflict situation.
Programs:
* Pediatric Program: Children often feel lonely and sad because their friends and family cannot be there 24 hours a day. No matter how good the medical care is, emotional needs and personal interaction are often neglected in everyday hospital routine.
RNPS is bringing joy and laughter to more than 16,000 Sick children in hospitals, and more than 26,000 parents and medical staff during one year, in the following hospitals:
• Queen Alia Hospital - Hebron
• The Huda Al Masri Cancer pediatric Department – Biet Jala
• The Pediatric Ward at King Husain Governmental Hospital – Biet Jala
• Augusta Victoria Hospital – Jerusalem
• Al Makasid – Jerusalem
• Palestine Medical Center – Ramallah
• Rafidia Hospital – Nablus
• Al Najah National University Hospital – Nablus
• Tulkarem Governmental Hospital – Tulkarem
• Jenin Governmental Hospital –Jenin
• Jericho Governmental Hospital – Jericho
* Geriatric Program: The elderly in care often suffer from limitations in their mobility, perception, and ability to communicate. RED NOSES clowndoctors visits to the geriatric facilities build bridges to the vital world of the youth. Using humour, the clowns activate pleasant memories within the elderly and integrate them into common games. This clown care program successfully supports the older patients with dementia, depression and chronic illness.
RNPS clowndoctors touched the soul of elderly people and created enchanting moments that will last forever.
* Rehabilitation Program: Those who have suffered from a severe accident must work hard to find their way back to a normal life and often have very desperate moments. Movements or processes previously taken for granted must be re-learnt in arduous, painful and lengthy therapy.
With the RED NOSES program for rehabilitation patients, specially trained clowndoctors provide these patients with courage and a brief moment of levity. By using a humorous approach to the subject of “failure,” the clowns strengthen and motivate them not to give up, and in many times they help the physicians during the treatment sessions.
International School Of Humour
RED NOSES Palestine’s strategy in developing and maintaining high artistic quality standards and continuously investing in the training of artists implements a robust and uniformed curriculum. This curriculum is a part of a full certification program, where all RNPS Clowndoctors have to pass 480 training hours in four fields of study (Artistic, Healthcare, Communication, and Psycho-Social).
